BODOKO

The Japanese word Bodoko translates as “life-cloth”. It refers to a textile that is mended, patched and passed down from one generation to the next becoming stronger and more beautiful with use and the patina of time.

This piece began life as a collection of well worn and outgrown jeans of various hues and dimensions.

At its most beautiful just when it is starting to fall apart, denim can be unpicked to revealed the
patina of wear under stitches and seams. These photo grams of time inspired the structure and showed me the layout of the piece.
