Ode to anni
Anni Albers, German born American textile designer, artist and student of the Bauhaus, refused to be labelled. Her experimental and ground breaking work blurred the traditional boundaries between art and craft and remain tremendously influential to this day.
This quilt, inspired by her work is my salute to the artist and her quiet subversion, the spontaneity and flow of her abstract geometric forms and the hand made “imperfections” of her materials.
“Being creative is not so much the desire to do something as the listening to that which wants to be done: the dictation of the materials.” -Anni Albers
